Mining remediation

With its roots in the former mining operations at both South Crofty and Wheal Jane, Carnon Contracting has retained many of the specialist skills required for mining related and underground work.

Carnon Contracting prides itself on providing a full range of solutions to the problems created by historic mining, and has both the equipment and in-house expertise to complete such work professionally and cost effectively.

The types of work we can carry out include:

• Shaft capping and plugging of abandoned mine workings
• Grouting of mineshafts and stopes from surface and underground
• Installation of geo-grid ground reinforcement over mine affected areas
• The installation of grills, fences and barriers to prevent unauthorised access to underground workings or shafts
• Piling, underpinning and repairs to buildings affected by subsidence or mine workings

Carnon Contracting remains very aware that many mine shafts, mine workings and other subsurface features are often situated in areas of ecological, archaeological or environmental significance, and we will work with our client and the relevant authorities to ensure minimum disruption to important features and areas.
